I started writing this on my move across the state this last month. With so many things changing (in my life, the country, world, etc...), it's been a good reminder where and who to look to. I got to record this in my new music room, so that was a blast to "break in". :) More fun to come!
lyrics
Look to You (DEMO) by Stephan Ainley
[VERSE 1]
I am disappointed
I thought I'd have more figured out by the time I was
This old, and growing older
But while my head knows, my heart's in wander
[PRE-CHORUS]
I feel, you're closer than a lover
I know, you are like no other
I need, someone to right the wrong
You say, you will always be there
You show, that there's something bigger
You know, exactly where I belong
[CHORUS 1]
When the people in my life, just let me down
When our hearts can't seem to find the common ground
When I don't know what to put my trust into
I trust in you
[VERSE 2]
You've been there through each step
I see that now that time has passed and I'm so grateful for your
Patience with this sinner
I vow to keep on gaining ground, even if so slow
[PRE-CHORUS]
I feel, you're closer than a lover
I know, you are like no other
I need, someone to right the wrong
You say, you will always be there
You show, that there's something bigger
You know, exactly where I belong
[CHORUS 2]
When the storm won't let me see past my next step
With the scars from trips and history of regret
When my eyes don't know what to focus onto
I look to you
[PRE-CHORUS]
I feel, you're closer than a lover
I know, you are like no other
I need, someone to right the wrong
You say, you will always be there
You show, that there's something bigger
You know, exactly where I belong
[CHORUS 3]
When the world all around me is crumbling
When my compass needle keeps on spiraling
When the reasons that I sing are few
I'll sing to you
